Garage door springs are manufactured in many different shapes and sizes to suit the individual characteristics of your door (eg, size and weight). Please note that if your garage door springs are not replaced by an experienced professional using the correct size/type of spring, your garage door and automatic opener will be damaged as a result. Roller Doors
Roller door spring have a life span of 20 – 25 years of normal domestic usage before they break (shorter if used excessively). Unlike your other styles of doors, roller door springs are mounted in a concealed internal position during the manufacturing process and replacement isn’t an easy or recommended option. If you look in through the ends of your roller door and can see that your roller door springs have broken then unfortunately, our recommendation is a new door.
Tilt Doors
Tilt door springs have a lifespan of 25 – 30 years of normal domestic usage before they break (shorter if used excessively). Tilt door springs are held on by small hook or ring ends and breakage usually occurs close to the ends. Tilt door springs can be replaced relatively easily. When replacing tilt door springs we recommend that all springs be replaced at the same time, even if only one has broken. This is due to the fact that all of the springs do an even amount of work so if one garage door spring has broken, the remaining spring/s are highly likely to break shortly as well.
Sectional Doors
Sectional garage door springs have an estimated life span of 10 – 15 years of normal domestic usage before they break (shorter if used excessively). When replacing panel lift or sectional door springs we recommend that all springs be replaced at the same time, even if only one has broken. This is due to the fact that all of the springs do an even amount of work so if one garage door spring has broken, the remaining spring/s are highly likely to break shortly as well.

Although a defective garage door spring is a burden for homeowners and it is all too easy to find garage door spring replacement tutorials online, please do not attempt it. It is incredibly dangerous if your garage door spring breaks and it is installed incorrectly; serious injury or further damage to your garage door can occur.
